The color scheme sets the style and tone of every event. It is often one of the first items on the planning to-do-list since it will have such an impact on the rest of the decisions. The scheme can be applied to everything from the decorations, to the table linens, to the invitations. While this can be a big decision, it is important not to let the color scheme get too complicated! Choose two or three colors and then stay consistent. Another thing to keep in mind is the location, the colors should compliment the setting not clash with what is already there. The scheme can have a seasonal influence but does not have to. Brown and orange do not have to be used at every fall event. An unexpected color can be a lot of fun to play with throughout the event decor.
That being said, Tangerine Tango happens to be the, “Color of the Year.” Pantone Inc., best known for their Pantone Color Matching System (see image bellow and you’ll know what I’m talking about!), annually select a Color of the Year. This year’s Tangerine Tango has really taken off and is being used everywhere. Sephora even partnered with Pantone to create, Sephora + Pantone Universe collection, of Tangerine Tango inspired nail polishes, lip glosses, eyeshadows, even false eyelashes.
This color is being seen at all types of events now from backyard soirees to elegant weddings. It creates a very bright and dramatic tone that looks great with hot pink, yellow, green and or/ white. Remember to only pick two or three colors for the color scheme though!
Another popular color this year is purple, from royal, to lavender to lilac. The lighter shades, like lavender, create a very soft and romantic feeling. A natural looking color scheme is to pair purple with green and/ or white. To create a bolder feeling, use purple’s contrast, yellow.
Last but not least is hello, yellow! From bright to mustard, it is and has always been cheerful and playful. A popular color scheme this year though is to pair yellow with a neutral gray or charcoal color.
These are just some examples of trending color schemes and how to play with them. Whatever color scheme you chose just make sure to keep it simple and consistent.
